Mixed-Use Redevelopment – Southwark Street, SE1

Project Overview:
Engineering design for a new mixed-use building in Southwark combining retail units at ground level with four floors of residential above. The project focused on space optimisation and compliance with Building Regulations and London Plan guidance.

Scope of Work:

  • Design of ASHPs and PVs for renewable energy generation.
  • Electrical and public health services for all units.
  • Part M accessibility compliance and fire strategy coordination.

Challenges:

  • Noise and air quality mitigation for residential above retail.
  • Complex coordination with planning and utility authorities.

Outcome:
The project met all planning and regulatory requirements, and services were delivered on a BIM Level 2 platform. Post-occupancy feedback highlighted comfort and low energy costs.
