This project involved the MEP retrofit of a Victorian-era primary school in Camden to modernise services while maintaining the building’s historic character. The school remained operational during the works.
Scope of Work:
Heating replacement with high-efficiency condensing boilers.
Thermal modelling to support passive ventilation strategies.
Design of hybrid natural/mechanical ventilation systems.
Upgraded electrical systems and energy-efficient lighting.
Fire alarm upgrades and security improvements.
Challenges:
Working within a live school environment with phased implementation.
Retaining original architectural features while improving performance.
Outcome: Delivered with minimal disruption to school operations. Energy usage reduced by 25% and comfort levels significantly improved. The design met BREEAM “Very Good” standards.
